WallaceCOLLYERIt is with deep sadness that the family shares the news of Wallace's peaceful passing on 26th May 2025 aged 86 years.

A devoted and loving husband to Mattie and father to Christopher and the late Susan.

Wallace was born in Northamptonshire before moving to Scunthorpe in the early 1960's and spending his working life at British Steel. Upon retirement he became involved with local archaeology and spent many happy hours volunteering at Scunthorpe Museum.

This lovely man will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and the family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for the kind messages and support received from friends and neighbours at this difficult time.

A private service is being held to celebrate Wallace but donations in his memory are thankfully received for Lindsey Lodge Hospice

These can be sent c/o J Naylor Funeral Directors Comforts Avenue Scunthorpe DN15 6PN Tel: 01724 280082

A lovely man who was one of the mainstays of the Museum's archaeology. He helped supervise the excavation of the Sawcliffe site and then went on to help run our fieldwalking projects which added greatly to our knowledge of the area's archaeology. He then spent many years volunteering at the Museum and became an expert on pottery. Many thanks for all your help Wallace: we couldn't have managed without you.
